Magnitude of relationship between burnout and absenteeism: a preliminary study.

This study examined the influence of guilt related to a negative attitude toward patients and its relation with burnout and absenteeism. The sample consisted of 717 nursing professionals. Depersonalization was evaluated by the Maslach Burnout Inventory and Guilt was evaluated by one item. To estimate Absenteeism, participants were asked about the number of workdays they had missed in the past year. Hierarchical multiple regression analyses make it possible to conclude that guilt explains work absenteeism, and the interaction between depersonalization and guilt (Incr. [Impact of job satisfaction on nursing turnover: a mixed method study].

OBIETTIVO: Descrivere la soddisfazione lavorativa (job satisfaction) ed esplorare le motivazioni della richiesta di turnover da parte degli infermieri clinici. METODO: Studio mixed-method condotto presso un’Azienda Ospedaliera di Roma Hub di II livello, su un campionamento di convenienza al personale infermieristico in servizio nelle seguenti tre aree cliniche: medica, chirurgica e d’urgenza/emergenza. RISULTATI: Il campione di 133 infermieri risulta avere una buona job satisfaction (60,9%). Il 21% si ritiene insoddisfatto e il 18% è incerto sul grado di soddisfazione. Liikkeenjohdon konsultoinnin professionaalistumista on Suomessa tutkittu vuosikymmenen puolivälissä. Tutkimuksen mukaan ala on nuori ja vain osittain järjestäytynyt. The first aim of this study was to determine whether organisational constraints, interpersonal conflicts at work, workload and negative affect at work have a positive relationship with intention to leave a current job or profession. The second aim was to investigate whether negative affect at work mediates the relationship between work stressors and intention to leave a current job or profession.
